Browsing Settings / Cookies

A quieter way to browse

Read without creating an account or enabling tracking. You can also ask this browser to reduce decorative motion.

What the supplied site code uses

The supplied HTML, CSS and JavaScript do not set cookies, run analytics, display advertising trackers or load third-party embeds. Reading pages and opening navigation do not require saved browser preferences. Technical hosting services can have separate behaviour that is not controlled by these static files.

Cookies and local storage are different

A cookie is a small value a browser can send with requests to a site. Local storage is browser-held data accessible to scripts on the same origin; it is not automatically attached to every request. Both can retain preferences, and both deserve a clear explanation.

This site writes one local-storage entry only when you press “Save preference” below. The key is zandumitroves-motion, with the value system or reduced. It records a display choice, not your identity or browsing history. There is no built-in expiry; it remains until you remove it or your browser clears it.

Motion preference

Your device’s reduced-motion setting is always respected. Choosing reduced motion also disables decorative movement when your device has not requested it.

Control or remove stored information

Use “Remove saved choice” to delete this site’s motion preference. You can also use your browser’s privacy or site-data controls to delete local storage and any cookies associated with this domain. Blocking storage does not prevent you from reading the site; it only prevents the preference from being remembered.

Question drafts stay separate

The botanical question builder does not use local storage to retain drafts. Copying a message uses your clipboard at your request; downloading creates a file on your device. Those copies are not removed by the preference button. Delete them using your device’s file and clipboard controls.

Questions about privacy

Read Reader Data for information about email correspondence and technical requests. Contact [email protected] if you have a question about this site’s storage behaviour.
